As I’ve mentioned elsewhere this was my first attempt at a titanium frame and while it turned out OK there were a couple of issues which made me want to have another go fairly soon…<\/p>\n

The main problem was the head angle wasn’t slack enough, with a 120mm travel fork it was probably around 69.5 degrees – this made high speed cornering a bit ‘twitchy’. The bike kept wanting to jack-knife and wasn’t very relaxing to ride.<\/p>\n

I’d kept the tubing diameter pretty stock, it didn’t look very contemporary and was crying out for some fatter tubes to keep flex in check. Although to be fair I didn’t really have any flex problems, probably due to being a fairly puny 10.5st.<\/p>\n

The final thing that tipped me over the edge was the amount of crimping that had gone on with the chainstays -it was way over the top. In places the tubing must have been under half its original width! I’d heard of other XACD frames cracking in this area and wanted to replace mine before it had a chance to fail – roll on prototype mark two AKA ‘Love You Long Time’!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
